How did the cosmos evolve to look the way it does today? Are there hidden symmetries in nature? How does gravity fit into quantum mechanics?

US particle physicists work with an international community of scientists to tackle these types of questions using the largest and most powerful machine on Earth—the Large Hadron Collider located near Geneva, Switzerland.

US Large Hadron Collider research is funded by the US Department of Energy Office of Science and the National Science Foundation.
